Green Energy Doctor Financial Incentives

If you'd like to generate your own energy for your business from renewable resources, financial incentives are available. These are managed through various government-funded programmes.

Clean Energy Cash Back Schemes such as Feed in Tariffs are in place for electricity generating technologies such as solar electricity (PV) and wind turbines.
 

Feed-In Tariffs (FIT's)

WHAT IS IT?

• A scheme which requires energy providers to pay householders who generate their own electricity from low carbon or renewable sources.
• A minimum payment for all electricity generated is guaranteed.
• A separate payment is made for any surplus electricity that is exported back to the grid.
• The above payments are made in addition to any savings made on energy bills.

 

WHAT TECHNOLOGIES DOES IT APPLY TO?

• Solar Electricity (Photovoltaic – PV)
• Wind Turbine
• Small Scale Hydroelectricity

 

DO I QUALIFY?

To qualify for the full FIT payments the following must apply:

• The technology is installed on or after 1st April 2010 using an MCS certified product and installer.
• The technology was installed between 15th July 2009 & 31st March 2010.

 

WHAT IS THE MICROGENERATION CERTIFICATION SCHEME?

• It is an independent scheme that certifies microgeneration products and installers in accordance with consistent standards.
• It is the only certification scheme to cover all microgeneration products and services and is supported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

How does it work?

GENERATION TARIFF 

• The payments are for all electricity generated, not just what is exported to the grid.
• A fixed payment from the electricity supplier for every kilowatt (kWh) generated (the “generation” tariff) is paid.
• The payments are guaranteed for 25 years.
   

EXPORT TARIFF

• In addition to the generation tariff, a payment is made for every kWh of surplus electricity exported back to the grid (the “export” tariff).
• Generators will be guaranteed a market for their exports at a long-term guaranteed price.

ENERGY BILL SAVINGS

• Generators will benefit from cheaper energy bills.
• By using the electricity generated, the amount of electricity imported and therefore bought will be less.
